Pratique des Arts
Tuesday, June 1st, 2010Exciting News again!
My pink tulip painting in watercolor "Frühlingsboten" (Signs of Spring) is published in the french art magazine "Pratique des Arts". This magazine is similar to the US Artists Magazine and full of info. Although I speak only a few french words it is wonderful to look through this magazine and to see all the wonderful art displayed.
Enjoying a cup of tea and reading through the magazine. What can make more fun?
They made an article about flower artists of the world and I feel very honored that they included my work. I was excited to see that my painting was not only displayed on Page 10, they also used it in their list of contents. How cool!

And here you can see my pink tulip Flower Watercolor painting again:

Does this happen to you, too?
You are just leaving the room for a short moment - a really short moment - you come back and what do you find on your chair?
My Rose Painting “Rose Clair Renaissance” on a book cover
Thursday, May 6th, 2010My painting Rose Clair Renaissance IV was used on the cover of a book by Patrick Ahern.
The book is a true story about St. Therese of Lisieux and Maurice Belliere, one of the two missionary priests who, a year and a half before her death, wrote to Therese's monastery asking for a nun who would pray for them especially. She was designated to do it and from then a very beautiful friendship started. The book has aabout 314 pages. A lovely story.
Please visit my gallery of Rose Paintings to see a larger image of my Rose in watercolor.

Sunshine Blog award
Sunday, February 28th, 2010
I was very surprised to get a message from Alex Zonis, who gave me a blog award - the Sunshine Blog Award.
Thank you very much Alex and I feel very honored.
I have to follow the Award rules and must nominate 12 bloggers. That is an easy job, because I would like to nominate my friends on the Artcolony blog. I am happy to be a part of this Artcolony blog, because there are some wonderful artists which has become friends to me. This are more than 12, but each of them deserve the award, if this is Jane Freeman, Cindy Agan, Diane Morgan, Mollie Jones, Mary Jansen, Nita Bridges-Hoyt, Emily Johnson, Carol Chretien, Kay Smith, Debbie Cannatella, Verena Heroux, Ruth Steinfatt, Elinor Sethman, Pat Hart, Kaaren Oreck, Christiane Fortin, Chris Beck and Michelle Himes. They all deserve this Sunshine Blog award, because they always like to share all they know about painting, they are very helpful and an inspiration. I only wish my special friend from the other side of the world - Susan Harrison-Tustain - would have a blog, because she also deserves this Blog award. Her paintings are full of magic and she also always loves to share her knowledge about painting.
Figurative Painting of a young child sitting at the water
Monday, January 4th, 2010I am wishing you all a very Happy New Year. May it be blessed with health, joy, peace, luck, enough money, success in your career and all what you wish.
I want also to say "Thank you" for your support in 2009.
There is a new figurative painting to show
I already have my first painting of a young child sitting at a river completed in 2010. It is painted on Aquabord in watercolor, size is 11x14".
This little girl with her pink dress and pink shoes sits at a river and she got wet feet.
For our Christmas exchange with some artists friends on Artcolony I painted our black cat "Timmi". The reference photo of Timmi was done some days before we lost him. It was the first time that I painted him. This painting went to Kay in USA and she told me that she loves the painting very much. So my surprise for her was perfect.
The painting is around 9x12 and painted in watercolor on Reeves Watercolor Board.
I also finished finally my figurative painting of "Ines". It is also watercolor, painted on Fabriano Watercolor paper, size is: 12x24".
If you are searching for some special art please keep in mind that I do take commissions. Since all other commissions for Christmas are completed I am having free time to take new commissions, if this is for a Rose or Flower painting, a portrait or a pet portrait or whatever you want. Please contact me without any obligations using my contact form here.
Pink Peony Painting in watercolor
Sunday, May 24th, 2009
I finished my Pink Peony Painting in watercolor. Or should I say better Magenta. The colour is so strong, that maybe Magenta or red would fit better. Size is 12"x12" and it is painted on stretched watercolor canvas.
Price: $130 plus $10 shipping (airmail and insurance)
I am currently working on my website. In the right sidebar you will see now a new link to available Original paintings and there will also come a link to available fine art prints. I want to have the possibility for my customers to buy directly from my website instead of opening an account on Etsy.
The page is still under construction. Only some links on a few images are working yet.
Moo, Tax, Facebook, Pink Peony …
Wednesday, May 20th, 2009I am working on a deep pink or better magenta peony in watercolor, which just grows in my neighbours garden. I thought I could have finished it already but I got so busy with doing our Tax. I am very late this year with the Tax and now it is highest time to clear my desk from all these boring things. So I will finish the Tax today and I hope there is still time enough for my Peony.
I really love the colour of this Peony. It is so strong and deep. For the cool pinks I used Brillant purple from Schmincke. I really love this colour. For the warmer areas I mixed this Brillant purple with Alizarin Crimson (also from Schmincke) which makes really a strong colours. And for the shadow areas I added a touch of green (Phthalo Green or Sap Green works perfect). This mix makes a really beautiful dark shadow.
I am thinking now about the background. Since the Peony is so strong I think I will go with a light background, perhaps in the way as I did on my Red Rose in my previous post.
Do you know Moo.com? Some days ago R. Garriot made some posts in his blog about business cards and where to get good quality for a good price. And Kim Denise told about her business cards which she got from Moo! It is a European printer.
I visited the site from Moo and I am amazed about that what they are offering. One great thing is that you can have printed multiple images in a single order. And beside the usual size for a business card they offer MiniCards. This size is really cute, just 28 mm x 70 mm and you can get 100 cards from 13.79€ plus shipping.
I only have a small rest of my old business cards and I need new ones. And I can't wait to get started and try Moo out. My previous business cards were made at psprint.com and also at Vistaprint.com. I liked the Vistaprint cards the best because the colours were right, the colours in the cards which I got from psprint.com were wrong and I didn't like that. When I get my cards from Moo I will tell you about them.
I have finally set up a side at facebook. Wow, I am amazed about the possibilities there and how easy it is to connect with your friends.
If you want to join me there please click on the image below. Hope to see you there.

Red Rose in watercolor
Thursday, May 14th, 2009Originally I was working on a white Peony painting. I painted it on Reeves watercolor board and needed to do a lot of washes in the background, because I wanted to have him very dark. But the board buckled and the washes looked terrible. I also was not happy with the leave work so I decided to throw the almost finished painting away. Instead I did this small red Rose painting in size 5"x7".
