Roses, Roses, Roses … Nothing is so beautiful like a Rose. My romantic rose paintings are created in different sizes from 4″x4″ up to large canvas paintings.

Many of the roses are growing in my own garden. I love to study them and observe them growing from the beginning of their life story: the tiny bud to the open rose and then at the end of blooming: the ‘spent’ flower – speaks of character and pride. There is beauty in all the stages of it’s life – just as in all things. My style of painting is romantic realism and this allows me to capture these compelling images to be enjoyed for all four seasons of every year.

Information about watercolor paper, Aquabord and Watercolor Canvas

Watercolor paper: The painting needs to be framed behind glass
Aquabord: Aquabord is a thin board which can hang in a frame without glass. It will be varnished.
Watercolor Canvas: 140 Lb watercolor paper is stretched over stretcher bars, the edges are painted, the painting will be varnished. No glass is needed, the painting can also hang without frame.

I have a large collection of Roses (Rose Paintings) in different colours, from white to pink, yellow to deep red or deep purple, if this are Old English Roses or modern roses.   Each year I try to add a new rose to my own garden or I look over other people’s garden fence and ask them if I can do some photoshots.

Painting roses has become such a wonderful passion. No matter what I am painting: a rose is always waiting.
