Description
The Story Behind the Painting
This rose grows in my own garden. Because I love painting roses, I chose varieties that flower generously and give me beautiful subjects throughout the summer. For a long time, this rose looked almost too well-behaved to demand a painting. Then, as it began to fade, everything changed.
Its petals folded, curled and opened into unexpected shapes. Magenta, dusty rose, apricot, violet and warm gold appeared across the bloom. Suddenly it was no longer simply beautiful – it was full of character and seemed to call out to be painted.
What fascinated me most was the contrast between fragility and intensity. Painting every fold and colour shift allowed me to preserve a fleeting stage of the flower, when its beauty had become wilder, richer and completely individual.

Colours & Atmosphere
Deep magenta, dusty rose, warm apricot, violet shadows and touches of glowing gold give this painting its expressive, almost dramatic presence. The folded petals create movement and depth, while the pale background allows every subtle transition to remain luminous.
Framing Recommendation
The painting is sold unframed, so you can choose a frame that suits your home. For lasting protection, I recommend professional conservation framing behind UV-filtering glass or acrylic, using an acid-free mat and reversible, archival mounting.
A custom frame is the best choice for this 76 × 56 cm artwork. As a starting point, a mat border of approximately 10 cm at the top and sides, with a slightly deeper lower border of about 12 cm, will create a beautifully balanced presentation. Your framer can adjust these proportions to suit the final frame and your interior.
