The Story Behind the Painting
Peonies have always fascinated me. Their generous blooms, countless delicate petals and subtle shifts of colour make them both beautiful and wonderfully challenging to paint.
With this large pink peony, I wanted to give the flower the space and presence it deserves. Building up its many petals in transparent layers of watercolour was a patient, detailed process, allowing soft pinks, warm rose tones and quiet shadows to develop naturally.

Colours & Atmosphere
Soft blush pink, warm rose, muted cream and gentle green tones give the painting an elegant, luminous presence. Its generous scale makes it a natural focal point for a calm, refined interior.
Framing Recommendation
The painting is sold unframed, so you can choose a frame that suits your home. For lasting protection, I recommend professional conservation framing behind UV-filtering glass or acrylic, using an acid-free mat and reversible, archival mounting.
A custom frame is the best choice for this 76 × 56 cm artwork. As a starting point, a mat border of approximately 10 cm at the top and sides, with a slightly deeper lower border of about 12 cm, will give the flower room to breathe and create a beautifully balanced presentation. Your framer can adjust these proportions to suit the final frame and your interior.

Watercolour paper can develop a gentle natural wave during the painting process. Before shipping, I carefully re-stretch this original so that it leaves my studio beautifully flat and arrives ready for professional framing.
