The Story Behind the Painting
The Eden Rose, also known as Pierre de Ronsard, has an unmistakable romantic character. Its densely layered petals open from creamy blush tones into soft rose and warm pink, while the surrounding leaves give the flower its fresh garden setting.
In this painting I wanted to capture more than the bloom alone. Tiny dewdrops rest on the petals and foliage, catching the light like small jewels, and a delicate ladybird adds a quiet moment of life. Deepened greens and cool shadows create the feeling of a moist early morning, as though a fine mist were still rising through the garden. These details reward a closer look and make the original feel intimate, natural and full of presence.
