The Heart of a Summer Garden captures the feeling of high summer: white roses opening together, golden centres glowing in the light, and a bee and a tiny green fly bringing the garden to life.
The Story Behind the Painting
These roses grow in my own garden. When I see them flowering together in summer — a cluster of open blooms, soft petals and new buds — I simply cannot walk past. There is something about that abundance and warmth that asks to be painted.
This original watercolor is my response to that feeling. The white petals are full of colour: cool lavender and blue-grey shadows meet creamy yellow, soft blush and warm apricot. Deep garden greens surround the flowers and make their light shine.
The bee and the fly belong to this little world. They turn a still arrangement of flowers into a moment of living nature: the movement, tiny discoveries and quiet busyness of a summer garden.

A Closer Look
Look closely at the translucent wings of the bee, the jewel-like green of the fly, and the warm centres of the roses. Each small detail is painted by hand, within transparent layers of watercolor.

The painting is sold unframed, so you can choose a presentation that suits your home. For lasting protection, I recommend professional conservation framing behind UV-filtering glass or acrylic, with an acid-free mat and reversible archival mounting.
